Whisky Magazine's Competition
Scotch whisky from all over the world competed in the International Competition sponsored by Whisky Magazine. It was a blind tasting of over 200 of the world's best scotches by a panel of 16 of the worlds leading whisky experts.
This year 20 year old Yoichi won was the first single malt produced outside of Scotland to win. It sells for over $300 per bottle.
Has anyone tried it? Let me know what you thought. If love to try it but I cannot find it here in San Antonio.

The Blair Athol Over 8 Years Old
Blair Athol Distillery has been around since 1798. It is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland. At least half of its product is used in blending of Bell's Blend a popular blended scotch in the U. K.
Today is sells a 12 year old single malt scotch. I got a small sample of The Blair Athol Over 8 Years old from a friend.
Color: Light gold
Nose: Rich and fruity
Palate: Silky and smooth, Dry
Finish: Dry and has a bite
Not a lot of flavor. Not one I will repeat. But you try it and you may like it.

Tamdhu or "The little dark hill" in Gaelic
This single malt was first sold in 1976. But the distillery was founded in 1897. Most of their production is used in Famous Grouse. And it is the only distillery in Speyside to malt all its own barley on the premises. It is also one of the few distilleries that uses a Saladin box in its malting process.
Color: Light golden
Nose: Light smoke and fruity
Palate: Very light
Finish: Mild
This is not a memorable scotch for me. Nice and light but not full flavored.
