Bowmore 18 year old Single Malt Scotch
The first recorded mention of the distillery was in 1779, the first on Islay. It is currently owned by Morrison Bowmore Distillers who is owned by Suntory Ltd of Japan. The distillery gets its water from River Laggan and does its own maltings. The peat is crumbled before it is fired to give more smoke than heat.
I personally have difficulty with the Scotch. The nose with all the phenols brings back unpleasant memorys of some of my schooling. I just can't seem to get past the aromas.
Color: mellow mahagony
Nose: creamy caramel toffee, with ripe fruit and smoke and phenol aromas
Palate: very complex, fruit and chocolate
